KEATLEY CUP FINAL 2013

Foxton 144-3 (16 overs)  Cockenach 109-8 (16 overs)

The Foxton Midweek XI won the Keatley Cup at Therfield last Thursday evening easing home by 35 runs against Cockenach. Batting first after losing the toss openers Adam Webster and Henry Hunter gave them the perfect start notching up 70 from the first seven overs. Acting skipper Webster in attempting a risky single was then run out for a brisk 47 from 30 balls. Hunter and Chris Pepper (18) then maintained the run rate until the final over when both sacrificed their wickets to the bowling of Lambert, but not before they had advanced the Foxton effort to 144-3 with Hunter being the backbone of the innings posting 62 from 44 balls with seven fours and a six.
Cockenach were under immediate pressure as they lost openers Clarke and Stevens in Andrew Kealy's opening over. A third wicket stand of 59 from skipper Titcombe and Chambers raised hopes but alas for Cockenach they were falling further behind the required rate and in attempting to rectify this Chambers with 51 from 34 balls including seven fours and a six and Titcombe (10) fell to the spin of Webster. A further three wickets tumbled quickly and a late flourish of 21 from 13 balls by Wright was in vain and he was bowled by the final ball of the match from Kealy leaving Cockenach well short. Kealy 3-18, Webster 3-25 and Andy Cambridge 2-33 were the successful bowlers in helping Foxton lift the trophy last won in 2002.
