MAXIMUM POINTS HAUL AT SAWSTON

11 Sep 2010

Sawston 1st XI 63 (25.2 overs)   Foxton 1st XI 120 (40.2 overs)

Foxton finished their season on a high with a maximum 30 point victory at Sawston in a very low scoring game.
Losing the toss and being asked to bat they found runs hard to come by on a wet surface with a slow outfield, and were not helped by four run outs.
Main contributors were Lawrence Farnum 37, Howard Powell 22, Max Bowen 18 and Jeffery Douglas with 14, but three of these when looking set for good scores were the victims of very poor running, and this eventually led them to be dismissed in 40.2 overs for a lowly 120.
Sawston took tea feeling confident in the ever improving batting conditions of chasing down their target, and looked set fair on reaching 37-2, but a massive collapse had them losing their remaining eight wickets for only 26 to be dismissed for 63 from 25.2 overs, the only man to reach double figures being Sean Savage with 14. Foxton's main destroyers were Douglas 9-5-14-4 and Atwell 7.2-2-15-4.
They finished a creditable fifth in the table and with the majority of the squad staying together for next season hopes are high of a better position.
